Artist Susan Brack
Best
recognized for her Christmas images and antique looking Teddies, Susan
Brack considers herself to be an American folk artist. She has no
formal training, but has been drawing since early childhood. Her love
for antiques and her rural lifestyle have strongly influenced her. A Christmas
collector herself, Susan is especially inspired by the stern images of
early Belsnickels and Father Christmas. Likewise, her bears often sport
the characteristics of early mohair bears produced in Germany.
Collecting
has been one of Susan's passions. Besides designing and illustrating,
she also creates nostalgic papier mache figures using her extensive collection
of old moulds. The pieces have been featured in numerous magazines and
media over the years. The handmade papier mache figures are prized by
collectors. Susan has less time to make them as in the past, but she still
produces a limited number each year.
Susan also designs for gift and home decor companies, so her work can
be found in a variety of forms, from counted cross stitch to whimsical
cookie jars. Questions can be directed to Susan through our email
address.
